About Us

What is a Community Foundation?
The Community Foundation of Crawford County (CFCC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity that accepts gifts of money from individuals and organizations to hold in trust in the form of endowments.  Founded in 1998, the CFCC has nearly $5 million in assets that includes 47 Endowment funds. Since 1998, the CFCC has provided over $5.5 million in grant funding/programming to benefit Crawford County, and over 70+ partial and full scholarships for Crawford County seniors.

Purpose
Our primary purpose is to be a permanent source of charitable funds to address and anticipate community needs by providing leadership and coordination via grant-making and fund development, while ensuring our donor’s philanthropic goals are accomplished.

Services Provided
Estate planning assistance; Scholarship Management, Community Grantor; Community Convener; Community Leadership; Non-profit Mentoring and Professional Development training including Staff, Boards and Volunteers.

The CFCC is a collection of endowments provided by various donors that designate specific organizations or fields of interest to which a portion of the earnings are awarded as grants.  Often times donors name their endowments in memory or in honor of a loved one or a favorite organization.

The principal gift from non endowment fund is not utilized; portions from investment earnings are provided to benefit the community in the form of grant awards.  These awards are typically scholarships and grants to non-profit charitable organizations. Money donated to the Community Foundation of Crawford County is considered an investment in the community, and for the future.  Donors benefit by placing their money in the CFCC with immediate tax benefits while providing a pool of money that can grow and continue to support Crawford County forever.

The CFCC exists to connect donors to community needs and to develop long-term assets for the good of Crawford County.  The CFCC is a “savings account” for now and forever, by making generosity last forever.
